Awarded as "Top Innovator" for the sixth time in a row
Elementar again ranks among Germany's most innovative medium sized companies
On June 24th 2016, Elementar again was awarded as one of Germany's most innovative medium sized enterprises at the German SME Summit in Essen - for the sixth time in a row. Elementar took part in a rigorous, scientific selection process that analyzed innovation management and successful innovation. The companies were evaluated by Nikolaus Franke, Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration, and his team. They examined more than 100 parameters in the following five assessment categories: 'Innovation-friendly Senior Management', 'Climate of Innovation', 'Innovative Processes and Organisation', 'Innovations Marketing' and 'Successful Innovations'.
"We only consider an innovation to be truly successful if it has increased our profit at the end of the year," commented Managing Director Albrecht Sieper. Elementar has derived 55 per cent of its revenues from market innovations and innovative improvements in recent years. At the same time, process innovations aimed at reducing costs have achieved savings of 30 per cent overall.
Elementar's open development processes have enabled the company to constantly tap into new areas of activity despite the natural constraints of a niche market. By transferring its experience in the field of organic chemistry to inorganic chemistry, for example, Elementar has discovered a completely new range of solutions. "We have seen crazy ideas catch on over and over again. And we sell a few products that really shouldn't work at all, according to the textbook," remarked the Head of Innovation Management, Dr. Lutz Lange. The company's senior management invests 30 per cent of its time in innovations. In addition, a further 25 employees are allowed to spend 20 per cent of their working time developing their own ideas.
